What Are Serums?

Serums are lightweight, fast-absorbing liquids packed with concentrated active ingredients. They are designed to penetrate deeper into the skin than traditional moisturizers, delivering targeted benefits to address specific skin concerns. Due to their high potency, serums can be game-changers in any skincare routine.

Why Are Serums Important?

1. Targeted Treatment: Unlike moisturizers, which primarily hydrate and moisturize the skin, serums are formulated to target specific concerns like pigmentation, fine lines, acne, and dullness. This makes them a powerful tool in customizing your skincare routine.

2. High Concentration of Actives: Serums typically contain a higher concentration of active ingredients compared to creams or lotions. This means you can achieve better results in a shorter period of time.

3. Lightweight Formula: The lightweight texture of serums allows for deeper penetration, ensuring that the beneficial ingredients reach the skin layers where they can work effectively.

4. Layering Benefits: Serums can be layered under your moisturizer, enhancing your skincare routine without adding heavy layers to your skin.

How to Incorporate Serums into Your Routine

1. Cleanse: Start with a gentle cleanser to remove impurities.

2. Tone (if using): Apply a toner to prep your skin for better absorption but if you do not tone, then your skin needs to be damp for best serum absorption.

3. Serum: Apply your chosen serum(s) by patting gently into your skin. Please note that there are only a few serums that are acceptable to use in the AM: Antioxidant serums like vitamin C, Collagen Peptide or The Derma Relief serum are all OK to use in the mornings, but for other Serums, particularly Retinol or any serum that has chemical acids (lactic, glycolic, Mandelic, etc.) there are to ONLY be used at night because they can make you more prone to a sun burn! If you are not unsure if your serums is to be used in the AM or PM, please contact us!

4. Moisturize: Lock in those serums with a suitable moisturizer.

5. Sunscreen (morning routine): Finish with sunscreen to protect your skin.
